Our core promise

ILikePdf is designed around a simple principle: your files never leave your device. All PDF processing — merging, splitting, compressing, editing, converting, OCR, encryption, and every other tool — runs entirely in your web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. We do not have servers that receive, process, or store your documents.

What data we collect

Vercel Analytics (anonymized)

We use Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns — which tools are used most, approximate geographic region (country level), device type, and browser type. This data is fully anonymized and does not include IP addresses, user identifiers, or any personal information. It helps us decide which tools to improve and what new features to build.

Local Storage

ILikePdf uses your browser's localStorage to remember your sidebar preferences (collapsed/expanded categories) and tool ratings. This data never leaves your browser.

No cookies

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party cookies. Vercel Analytics uses a cookie-less approach that respects your privacy.

What data we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect, store, or transmit your PDF files or their contents
  • We do not collect IP addresses
  • We do not use fingerprinting or tracking scripts
  • We do not sell or share any user data with third parties
  • We do not require account registration or email addresses
  • We do not process payments or store payment information

Third-party services

Vercel (Hosting)

ILikePdf is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect standard server logs (request URLs, timestamps) as part of their infrastructure operations. Refer to Vercel's Privacy Policy for details.

CDN resources

ILikePdf loads certain open-source libraries from CDN services (unpkg, cdnjs). These CDNs may log requests for their own analytics and security purposes. Libraries loaded include pdf-lib, pdf.js, and others listed in our package.json.

PeerJS (P2P Share)

The P2P Share tool uses PeerJS for browser-to-browser file transfer. PeerJS uses a signaling server to establish connections; no file data passes through the signaling server. Refer to PeerJS Privacy Policy.

Google Gemini AI (Chat with PDF)

The "Chat with PDF (AI)" tool optionally uses the Google Gemini API. When you use this feature, text extracted from your PDF is sent to Google's API to generate responses. No PDF files are uploaded — only extracted text. Refer to Google's Privacy Policy.

Data retention

Since we do not collect or store your files or personal data, there is nothing to retain. Vercel Analytics data is retained according to Vercel's data retention policy. Any data stored in your browser's localStorage persists until you clear it.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Under GDPR (EU) and CCPA (California), you have rights regarding your personal data. Since we collect minimal anonymized analytics data that cannot be linked to an individual, these rights largely do not apply in practice. If you have questions, contact us at the email below.
